Noosa’s two famous streets; Hastings street in Noosa Heads and Gympie Terrace in Noosaville, couldn’t be more different. Both are a holiday makers’ delight with boutiques (Hastings Street has many more than Gympie Terrace), cafes, restaurants and bars. But while Hastings Street gets hectic, Gympie Terrace is laid back and calm.
Gympie Terrace winds its way along the Noosa River in Noosaville. All the way along, between the river and the road, is grass and parklands. Here you’ll find picnic tables, free and clean bbqs, kids play area, fun fitness equipment. On any day of the week, you’ll see people lounging on picnic rugs and chatting in chairs in the sun, watching the action on the river.
If exercise is your thing, a brisk walk from William Street (where our 2bdr apartment Drifters is located) beside the river along Gympie Terrace to the Noosaville Yacht and Rowing Club and back gives you a smart 4km constitutional. Go at sundown or sunup and you’ll get a stunning sunrise or sunset along with your walk.
Along this idyllic setting are some of Noosa area’s best restaurants and cafes, all within easy walking distance from your accommodation. The Boat House is famous for casual fish and chips or a la carte dining. The Yacht and Rowing Club does a great steak; Sushi Monster for fresh delicious sushi and other Japanese dishes; GT’s bar and restaurant - where the locals go, and the adventurous YoYo Bar and Grill, to name a few.
If you want to get on the water, there’s plenty of options for that! Along Gympie Terrace, you can hire paddle boards, kayaks, catamarans, jet skis, drive-yourself pontoon boats, or take the river cruise (especially recommended at sunset).
What’s so special about Gympie Terrace? There’s just so many ways to enjoy yourself all in a relaxed 2km stretch of river, road and parklands.
